Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Belly Breathing – Breath work – Ask students to sit in a circle. Ask for a student leader to lead breath work with the breathing ball. Invite students to offer a
compliment to the student leader when they finish. - Community Circle – modified from worksheet – Draw the community circle on the board. Explain to students how the community circle works. Ask them to place themselves at the center of the circle, think of people in their lives they are closest to and picture them at them at the center of the circle with you. Then think of who they would place on the next the ring of the circle. Then think of who you would place on the outermost ring of the circle. Invite students to share about their community circle.

- Tree Circle – Processing questions o What differences did you notice when you did tree on your own and then when you placed your hand against your neighbor? o What did it feel like to receive support from your neighbor? o What did it feel like to give support to your neighbor?
- Tree Challenge – Modified – Partners are working together to see how long they can hold their pose. Processing questions: How was the tree challenge experience different or similar to the Tree Circle activity? What strategies did you use to work together?
Calm
- One-Minute Exploration – Invite students to think of a time when they offered support to someone in their community circle. What were the details around that situation and how did it feel to offer support?
