Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Stillness

Lesson Plan:

  • Stillness – Pulse Count for a count of 30 seconds. Share your motor speeds. Belly Breathing with the Hoberman sphere.
  • Strength, Listening, Community – Archetype Game. Review rules and growing five different teacher specified archetypes, freezing, then moving with the music like the specified archetype. Allow time for sharing how a particular archetype made you feel.
  • Grounding – Chair 15, with the addition of tree pose. Concentrate on feeling grounded, or rooted foot on the floor. Shoes optional.
  • Pulse count and share. Line up silently and practice pinwheel breath on your way out to recess (or into a transition). Teacher holds the pinwheel and children take turns blowing gently.
