Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Strength
Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Pulse Count – Taking a breath brings energy to supply /strength of the heart
muscles pumping (like the beat of a drum)
Activate
- Cat/Cow
- Alternate Arm/Leg Kicks – Think of a strong lion, roaring as you exhale
- Dolphin – Use core strength, activate abdominal muscles
- Downward Dog
- Wood Chopper – Use the exhale to create power
- Warrior II – Move into Past, Present, Future – think of something from the past that helps you be strong, what can you do in the present to stay strong, and what can you do in the future to keep the strength
- Eagle – Individual Strength, Freedom
- Balancing – Tree – Alternate wind/calm
- Dancer – Be proud of your inner strength, standing tall
- Chair – I am strong, I can do it, Inhale to Mountain/Exhale to Chair
- Superman – Reach both arms out, sending light rays out of the fingers
- Opposite arm/leg – imagine pulling up through the mud
- Child – Knowing when we need to rest our minds and bodies keeps us strong
Calm
- Pulse Count – same as in the beginning – Notice if there is a difference
- Relaxation – PMR – Squeeze muscles and release, beginning at the feet and moving up to the top of the head.

- Heart – Compassion
- Mouth– Kind Words
- Forehead – Positive Thoughts
