Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Grounding

Props/Music Resources Required: yoga mats, music, CD player, Hoberman Sphere

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Belly Breathing – with Hoberman Sphere: 10 breaths – Feel your feet connected to the floor; Lengthen through your spine and allow your shoulders to move away from your ears. Compliment counter and breather.

Activate

  • Mountain – Feel strong
  • Roots – Connect to the earth, find center
  • Tree – Feel feet push into earth; arms expand up, balance – Trade sides
  • Foreword fold – Release
  • Social Emotional Activity – Strong conversation – Who/ what keeps you strong
  • Tree – strong, stable, open, grows (nutrients), opening up

Calm

  • Relaxation
  • Child’s Pose – breathing, 6 breaths
  • Twist – turn to right; up
