Props: CD player, CD, mats, breathing ball, Ready Set Relax, flowers, cotton balls, essential oil, yoga blocks, drum, bean bags, mindful moment cards, moving story, posters
Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Welcome and overview of ground rules
- Introductions/Name Toss Game
- Belly Breathing – (breathing ball)
- Child’s Pose
- Mindful Moment Card (while in Child’s Pose) – “Imagine a tunnel that goes deep into the ground. Travel that tunnel into a small cozy room deep inside the earth. What is in the room? Who is there? Notice how it feels to be inside this room.”
Activate
- Elephant Stomp
- Shake it out
- Shoulder Clock
- Partner Pull
- Teach Moving Story Poses:
- Alternate Arm/Leg Kicks
- Cobra – Lift heart, gaze straight ahead. Pelvis neutral.
- Tree – Ground four corners of foot into mat. Activate arms and lift heart.
- Eagle
- Warrior – Ground four corners of feet into mat. Gaze above middle finger. Engage core and hug into mid-line. Relax shoulders
