Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Breathing – Hoberman Sphere – teach breath-work to new group, ask for volunteers to lead. 10 breaths.
- Volcano breath
- Wood chopper
- Forward fold
- Lunge, Downdog, Lunge
- Forward fold
- Volcano breath
Activate
- Warrior I – Activate your core and feel the power of body from finger-tips to toes. Raise top of head to sky. Breathe in and bring energy down into Warrior II.
- Warrior II
- Past, present, and future – imagery with strength in feeling our body in the present and accepting ourselves where we are.
- Back to Warrior II, then Moutain.
- Tree pose – with imagery of strength of your support holding your feet.
- Eagle and eagle on a cliff
Calm
- Relaxation – Lying on mats for belly breathing and relaxation focussing on feeling parts of body. Read story of Lakota girl doing native dance on basketball court. Ask students when they have been strong like the Lakota girl.
