Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Listening

Calm

  • Belly Breathing 
  • Chime – Listen,  thumbs up, what do you hear?  (x2)  Pencil and paper near the yoga mat
  • Discussion about Silence –  What thoughts came into your head? What did you notice about how your thoughts made you feel?  How often do we stop and listen to the thoughts in our head?

Activate

  • Yoga – Practice movement.  While we practice movement, continue to notice and listen to the thoughts that come to your head.  Also, notice what your body is trying to tell you.  Where are you tight?  What are you carrying in those tight spots?  Child’s pose, Downward dog, Walk feet up to forward bend, Stand tall in mountain, Volcano breath, Mountain, Plant roots, Crescent moon (activate muscles), Modified Dancer, Chair pose, Chair twist, Mountain, Upward mountain, Swan dive to forward bend, Plank, Child’s pose.

Calm

  • Journal –  What thoughts came to your head? What do you need to do to address those thoughts?  How did your thoughts change as we moved through the poses? What was your body trying to tell you?  What do you notice when you pause and listen? Is there someone you are close to who you need to be listening to?
