Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Listening

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Partner Pinwheel Breath – Have student’s take turns breathing with the pinwheel. Ask them to try to breath together at the same time.

Activate

  • Partner Pull – Listen to your body and your partner so that you know if the stretch is comfortable for both of you.
  • Partner Tree – Allow your friends help support you.
  • Warrior I – Feel the support that your legs and torso can give you.
  • Warrior II – Notice in your body how strong you feel.
  • Mountain Pose – Stand confident and tall.
  • Chair Pose – Focus on your feet feeling grounded and feel the strength in your body as you hold the pose. Hold for 20 seconds.
  • Mountain Pose – Stand confident and tall.
  • Repeat – Then do everything from Warrior through Mountain Pose again with the other side.
  • Archetype Game – moving in rhythm with music or a drum.

Calm

  • Forward Fold – Hang your head down and feel the stretch getting deeper and deeper as you hang. Feel it in your back and your hips too. Notice the calm that comes from this stretch.
  • Volcano Breath – Hear your breath release from your body when you exhale.
