Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Strength

Academic/Therapeutic/Other Goals: Students will be able to identify what strong voice means to them and what they can do to find it

Props/Music Resources required: Music & ipod dock, Mat 20 poster, Classroom Set of Mats, Hoberman sphere

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Intro – Today we are training in yoga like Jedi who find their strength by being calm when they train
  • Belly Breathing – with Hoberman sphere (student led)

Activate

  • Mat 20 – (student led) Compliments for student leader
  • Bow Pose – after plank held for 30 seconds for a strength challenge
  • Chair – for 30 seconds – Feel the strength in your body when you hold poses. Stand in poses like warriors.

Calm

  • Strong Voice Activity
  • Tree Pose – let your strong voice help you stay balanced
