Lesson Plan:
Props/Music Resources required: Anjali CD and CD player; Word Cards; Drum
Calm
- Choose two words cards that have meaning to you. Keep by your mat. Share the word cards chosen. “Would anyone like to share why they chose the words they did?” 1 minute
- Belly Breathing – with Hoberman Sphere – Student led
Activate
- Pulse Count – take pulse then jog 2 laps around the room and take again. Notice the difference. 2 minutes
- Ball toss – Say the person’s name you are tossing to as well as one of their words. Make eye contact before throwing. 2 minutes
- Mat 20 – from Mountain to Mountain with Warrior I – Student led with drumbeat and compliments; 2 times through. 20 minutes
- Pulse Count – “Notice how your body feels after doing the postures.”
- Past, Present, and Future – “Look toward the future and see your goals. Remember your past has helped you get to the present. Listen and stay balanced in the center between both.” 10 minutes
- Roots – feel all four corners of your feet firmly on the ground
Calm
- Child – Allow your brain to be quiet; notice your breath.
- Twist – relax and let go; turn your head in the opposite direction than your legs
- Scripted Relaxation – “The Boat Ride” 10 minutes
