Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Grounding

Lesson Plan:

Calm

Pulse Count: Find your pulse and then feel the rhythm of your heart. Picture beating a drum to the beat of your heart for 30 beats.

Activate

Child: Imagine a sturdy and smooth boulder. Relax your neck and hips and back. Let your head be heavy as you rest into the support of the ground. Let your head be heavy as you rest into the support of the ground. Feel how strong and relaxed and protected you are.

Rock and Roll: Press your belly down toward the floor as you roll up and down your spine. Now while holding your knees rock gently from side to side.

Roll up to standing.

Mountain: Can you be a beautiful, strong mountain? Imagine Mt. Hood at your favorite time of year. Is it sunny and warm? Is it snowing? Think of how majestic a mountain is. Be a majestic mountain.

Sun Salutation: (3x with three different leaders) With a focus on grounding. Notice how supported your body is in warrior and plank; think of who supports you in your life.

Harassment Prevention Activity combined with Wood Chopper to communicate strength through body and voice.

Calm
