Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Grounding

Check-in

  • Guidelines of Yoga Calm
  • Principle written on board, ask kids why important
  • Use cards to pick who feel most like now- Feelings Faces

Calm

  • Belly Breathing – while balancing a rock on belly, picture being connected to the Earth like the rock, 30-60 seconds
  • Mindful Moment Card – imagine sitting on a large warm rock…

Activate

  • Tree – 30 second each side, use drum (focus on a spot on wall)
  • Tree Challenge II – press gently without losing balance
  • Roots – try eyes open, then closed- how different?
  • Chair Pose – feel being strong and rooted
  • Block Creek – eyes open, eyes closed with help (positive self talk)
  • Compliments for helper

Calm

  • Back Breathing – feel connected to partner
  • Relaxation – from Ready, Set, Relax-“Happy Landings”
