Props/Music Resources Required: Hoberman, chime, Music & CD player

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Belly Breathing – with Hoberman Sphere: 10 breaths
  • Twist – look at the person to your right and to your left, find someone you want to cooperate with, to be partners with

Activate

  • Mountain Pose – side by side make a mountain range, move a little closer, like the Rocky Mountains
  • Roots – wind your roots down into the ground, imagine winding roots around someone else’s roots forming a giant rope like those that tug in the big ships on Lake Superior

Partner Poses:

  • Shoulder Clock
  • Partner Pull
  • Tree Challenge
  • Tree Circle – the importance of cooperation, relying on others
  • Trust Walk and Sensory Adventure – switch places and switch partners
  • Back Drawing– draw a person, now another, join their hands, draw the sun shining, build a house, plant trees, draw the neighbors, draw a circle connecting all the people in your neighborhood

Calm

  • Back Breathing
  • One Minute Exploration – of working cooperatively to complete a big project, the Pinewood Derby, the Sled Race, your group presentation
