Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Strength

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Pinwheel Breathing – Starting with the breath, using pinwheels. I like the use of pinwheels (especially when kids are having any sort of anxiety) to reduce the amount of verbal instructions.

Activate

  • Child’s Pose – continuing the breath work.
  • Yoga Poses – Moving into cat and cow, freely moving through the expansion of movements with breath. Student moves into Down dog, taking pride in the grounding sense to the earth, moving into Plank, feeling the strength of the movement, and lowering down to Superman. Staying here to breathe for 2 cycles and ending in child’s pose.

Calm

  • Relaxation – A relaxation with an intention of taking something with you off this mat today. Perhaps something that surprised you? Something that made you proud? Something you did well? Take that with you today, it is yours to keep.
