Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Strength

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Belly Breathing – Leaders lead the class in breathing with Hoberman Sphere and chime.  Have students give compliments.  Do heart and volcano breaths.
  • Strong Voice Activity – As students lay on mats, ask questions off of the Strong Voice Worksheet, giving time to think and reflect.

Activate

  • Strong Yoga Flow – Have students go through this flow… saying out loud strong sentences:
    • Mountain
    • Forward Bend
    • Chair
    • Forward Bend
    • Warrior I- “I am strong for myself!”
    • Warrior II- “I am strong for others!”
    • Forward Bend
    • Repeat on opposite side- do on both sides 2 times
  • Tree Challenge II – With your yoga partner, face one another and press one hand together.  Go into tree pose, pressing into hands, supporting your friend.  Gently press back and forth and to the sides….keeping your balance and standing leg strong!

Calm

  • Relaxation – Strong Voice Picture – as relaxing music is playing, have students draw a self-portrait of time when they were strong or when they were doing a strong pose.
