Class Intention: Main principle I want to convey- community
How I will set the tone to create a therapeutic environment- mats in a circle, soft music, muted lighting. Which specific challenging behavior am I trying to address? It’s a newer group and we are trying to get to know each other and build on what we learned in the introductory lesson.
Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Breathing Techniques – (integrating principle-based & social/emotional language): Belly breaths & the hoberman sphere (students do the hoberman, counting, and complimenting)
Activate
- Yoga Flow – (Yoga-Based Movement integrating principle-based & social/emotional language): review roots, mt, upward mt, tree
- Tree Circle
- Tree Challenge
Calm
- Craft Activity and Relaxation – (Relaxation integrating the physical, emotional, and cognitive experiences from the lesson plan): Make a tree (using paper lunchbags)—relate their individuality too our individuality
- Read a poem “Advice from a Tree”
- Listen to a story about the many ways trees help/support us
- Relaxation – Forest themed guided relaxation
