Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Strength
Lesson Plan:
Calm
- Belly Breathing – with breathing buddies – watch your tummy rise and fall…watch your breathing buddy rise and fall with your tummy
Activate
- Mountain to Mountain Flow – (mountain, fold, plank, superman/cobra, down dog, mountain) repeat 2-3 times
- Chair – sit back like you’re in an imaginary chair…let’s see how strong we are, let’s try to hold it for 3 breaths
- Mountain – stand tall in your mountain
- Crescent Moon – let’s do crescent moon to one side and hold for 2, return to mountain, now the other side and hold for 2
- Star – shine like the brightest strongest star
- Side Angle – reach reach reach as strong and far as you can, and breathe…(repeat from star to do the other side of side angle)
- Boat – make your strong and sturdy boat (or cruise ship)
- Rock and Roll
- Bridge – make the tallest strongest bridge you can make, and let the boats pass through underneath
Calm
- Twist – from side to side and hold – Hug it all in and let go
- Questions – What makes us strong? Is it just our muscles? Or is it our emotional and mental strength too? Who is strong that you know? Why?
