Yoga Calm Principle/Lesson Goal: Grounding

Lesson Plan:

Calm

  • Belly Breathing

Activate

  • Child’s Pose
  • Table Top – plant your hands so you are grounded through all your fingers
  • Cat/Cow
  • Alternate Arm/Leg Lifts – stay grounded in your one hand and one knee
  • Downward Dog – let’s prepare for dolphin by starting in down dog…see how your body should be? Let’s just change it a bit by clasping your hands together and resting your elbows on your mat
  • Dolphin
  • Child’s Pose – sometimes poses can be a bit tough, so we’re going to return to child’s pose to be able to return to our breath

Calm

  • Back Breathing
  • Relaxation – Read a mindful moments card “Picture a large old tree with big branches. Sit with your back against the tree and watch the things around you.”
