Tools: Yoga Calm Poster (Positive Self-Talk) BK: “It’s ok to feel bad” (Todd Parr) Music/Ipad/Smartboard, Tissues, grace!

Lesson Plan:

 

Calm

  • Volcano Breaths – Inhale = “All feelings are Okay” Exhale = “I got your back”

Activate

  • Mountain – Inhale~ ”I am strong”; Exhale~ “All feelings are OK”
  • Sequence – Cat-Cow-Dwn Dog-Fwd Fold-Mtn-Star-Warrior II-Fwd Fold (repeat) ACTIVATE & EXPAND! (past-present-future)
  • Book – “It’s Ok to feel bad” (Todd Parr)
  • Activity – Rumor Squashers – “Go to Mountain”, “Stop, I want to be respectful to the family”. “I choose to not talk about this now”. “That’s a rumor & not respectful”. “Let’s not talk about this”
  • Rumor Discussion – ACCIDENTAL or On Purpose? Intent? Consequence?  Link to respect. Practice.

Calm

  • Breathing – Student Choice (volcano, belly, balloon, shoulder w/ sneeze, cupcake, bday cake)
  • Sitting Royalty (throne, expand upward like mtn. Peak) – Inhale: “I am strong” Exhale: “I choose respect” (x’s 8).
